CPSA-Grow Asia Hosts a dissemination workshop on Gender-Inclusive, Low-Carbon Emission Initiatives in Cambodia’s Vegetable Value Chains

Phnom Penh, November 2, 2023– The Cambodia Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture (CPSA), a flagship program implemented by Grow Asia, organized a significant Dissemination Workshop focused on Gender-Inclusive Low-Carbon Emission Projects within the Vegetable Value Chains in Cambodia. This workshop, funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) under the ASEAN Green Recovery through Equity & Empowerment (AGREE) initiative, took place at Himawari Hotel, welcoming over 30 key stakeholders from the public sector, private enterprises, civil society organizations, farmers’ groups, and financial institutions.

The primary goal of the event was to share insights derived from two in-depth case studies and gather feedback from participants representing diverse sectors. These discussions were aimed at fostering more inclusive agricultural investments and developing tangible action plans.

The workshop provided an invaluable platform for attendees to delve into crucial topics such as gender trends and climate change resilience in Cambodia’s vegetable value chain. Participants engaged in productive dialogues, offering substantial feedback on the case studies and discussing prospective initiatives.

One participant, Mrs. Ley Yim, a representative of women farmers, expressed her gratitude: “This workshop enlightened me about the significant actors within Cambodia’s vegetable chain and the challenges faced. I particularly appreciated the emphasis on gender equality in climate change mitigation plans. I am dedicated to applying this newfound knowledge and will continue to share it within my community to uplift the lives of women farmers.”

CPSA-Grow Asia extends heartfelt appreciation to all the attendees for their active participation. This workshop is expected to deepen the understanding of implementing technology-driven, resilient agricultural projects amidst climate change challenges and the economic empowerment of women. It underlines the crucial role of the private sector in promoting sustainable agricultural investments and emphasizes the importance of collaborative efforts with stakeholders to enhance the vegetable value chain in alignment with national policies.
