The Cambodian Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture (CPSA Grow Asia) has taken a significant leap forward in strengthening the capacity of Cambodian agricultural cooperatives. The launch of specialized training courses on “Agri Tech Solutions” for five cooperatives in Kampong Chhnang and Kampong Speu marks a milestone achievement. The training, held on June 16, 2023, at Sokha New York Hotel in Kampong Chhnang, brought together cooperative committee representatives and experts from Agri-novation and Heineken.
The training sessions, attended by representatives from five agricultural cooperatives, namely Svay Chorcheb Mean Chey, Rom Duol Rung Roeng, Aphivath Kak Sekam Krang Lvea, Krangleav Samaki, and Thlok Vien Meanchey, featured 33 participants. These sessions aimed to equip the cooperatives with essential knowledge and skills to bolster rice production. Topics covered included information monitoring, climate analysis, pest control, soil and water management, labor considerations, farm management, business partnerships, and market trend analysis.
A key highlight of the training was the integration of the Chamkar App, a cutting-edge digital tool designed to optimize agricultural performance. Participants gained a deeper understanding of the application’s functions, enabling them to leverage its capabilities for various aspects such as agricultural input supply, farm management techniques, land and water management, investment cost analysis, access to loans from microfinance institutions or banks, and identification of market opportunities.
It is important to note that this transformative project is made possible through the generous support of HEINEKEN Cambodia, further reinforcing their commitment to sustainable agriculture.
Together, CPSA-Grow Asia and the agricultural cooperatives are paving the way for a more resilient and technologically advanced agricultural sector in Cambodia, ensuring a brighter future for farmers and sustainable food production.
